In We Don’t Know Ourselves, Fintan O’Toole weaves his own experiences into the social, cultural, and economic changes Ireland faced over his lifetime, chronicling its transition from a reactionary “backwater” to an almost totally open society. He discusses some of  the key changes in Ireland during his lifetime with Radio Free Galisteo's John Shannon including the fall of the influence of the  Catholic Church, the transition from a rural to modern society, and also why Ireland has a soft spot for our own Wild West.
